Virology at IITA

Before joining the MRCG-LSHTM in 2017, I worked on molecular diagnosis of diverse plant-infected viruses from various food crop samples during my internship period at the Virology Molecular Lab of the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) Ibadan in 2014/2015 under Dr Lava Kumar. Here I got my first hands-on experience on enzyme immunoassays (ELISA), Nucleic acids extraction, PCR, Agarose gel electrophoresis, recombinant DNA technology, monoclonal antibody production,  protein purification techniques including SDS PAGE, Western Blotting, etc., and their real-life application in plant disease control to enhance the agricultural sector.
