I am currently a PhD Fellow at WACCBIP University of Ghana, with an MSc in Infectious Diseases from LSHTM UK and a BSc in Biochemistry from Obong University, Nigeria. With over 8 years of research on infectious diseases, majorly on the malaria parasite population genetics and drug resistance, I am currently widening my scope to human genetics. Thus, while involved in undergraduate teaching of Biochemistry at Obong University, I am simultaneously investigating molecular markers in humans associated with neuronal death induced by cerebral malaria (CM) and exploring the prospects of improved neuroprotective interventions for CM.
My research areas include molecular genetics, epidemiology, cell molecular biology, chemistry, serological and genomic laboratory investigation of infectious pathogens. Thus, my experience which has exposed me to a wide range of methods from the fields of cell biology, genomics, and DNA technologies, has equipped me with a variety of expertise or research skills, as outlined in the footer below.
The goal is to contribute to scientific knowledge advancements that will lead to the development of robust and effective novel interventions to combat at-scale endemic diseases in Africa and other LMICs.
