Malaria
I joined MRCG-LSHTM as a research intern on a WellcomeTrust-DELTAS-funded Postdoctoral malaria research project at the Prof Alfred Amambua-Ngwa Cell and Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory of the MRCG-LSHTM. There, I added to myself a wide range of valuable knowledge and research skills outlined in the footnote below. Subsequently attaining a Scientific Officer (SO) position,Between 2018-2022, I led and coordinated both lab and field activities for over 12 malaria parasite molecular epidemiology and population genetics research projects. MY primary responsibility was to utilise cell and molecular biology tools, including various nucleic acid extraction and PCR methods, to assess the prevalence, diversity and transmission dynamics of the Plasmodium parasite species. Also, genomic sequence platforms/technologies to investigate parasites' evolution, emergence and spread of resistance to treatment options.
